Azar

AL-AN'AAM -6

6:74

And Abraham said to his father, Azar

"Will you take statues as gods?

I see you and your people are clearly misguided."

1

MARIAM-19

19:41-47

And recall in the Book, Abraham; he was a man of truth, a prophet. When he said to his father:

“O father, why do you serve what does not hear or see,

nor help you in anything? My father, knowledge has come to me which did not come to you. So follow me that I will guide you to a level path. My father, do not serve the devil.

For the devil was ever disobedient to the Almighty.

My father, I fear that a retribution will inflict you from the Almighty and that you will become an ally to the devil."

He said:

“Have you abandoned my gods O Abraham?

If you do not stop this, I will stone you; and let me be.”

He said:

“Peace be upon you, I will ask forgiveness for you from my Lord. He has been most kind to me. And I will abandon you and what you call on besides God. And I will implore my Lord, hoping that I will not be mischievous in imploring my Lord.”

Anchor 1

AL ANBIYA-21

21:51-58

And before that We gave Abraham his understanding,

and We were aware of him.

As he said to his father and people:

“What are these images to which you are devoted?”

They said:

“We found our fathers worshipping them.”

He said:

“You and your fathers have been clearly misguided.”

They said:

“Have you come to us with the truth, or are you simply playing?”

He said:

“No, your lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth,

the One who initiated them. And I bear witness to such.”

“And by God, I will plan against your statues after you have gone away and given your backs.”

So he broke them into pieces except for the biggest of them,

so that they may turn to him.

Anchor 2

ASH-SHUARA-26

26:69-86

And recite to them the news of Abraham.

When he said to his father and his people:

“What do you worship?”

They said:

“We worship statues; thus we stay devoted to them.”

He said:

“Do they hear you when you call to them?”

“Or do they benefit you or harm you?”

They said:

“No, but we found our fathers doing the same.”

He said:

“Do you see that which you have been worshipping. You and your fathers of old. They are enemies to me, except for the Lord of the worlds. The One who has created me, He will guide me. And He is the One who feeds me and gives me to drink. And if I am sick, He is the One who cures me. And the One who will make me die and then bring me to life. And the One whom I hope will forgive my mistakes on the Day of Judgment.”

“My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the good doers.”

“And give me a tongue that is true for those who will follow.”

And make me of the inheritors of gardens of bliss.

And forgive my father, for he was of those misguided.

Anchor 3

AZ-ZUKHRUF-43

43:26-27

And when Abraham said to his father and his people:

I am innocent of that which you worship. Except for the One who initiated me, He will guide me.

Anchor 4

AL-MUMTAHINAH-60

60:4

There has been a good example set for you by Abraham

and those with him, when they said to their people:

We are innocent from you and what you serve besides God.

We have rejected you, and it appears that there shall be animosity and hatred between us and you until you believe in God alone.

Except for the saying of Abraham to his father:

I will ask forgiveness for you, but I do not possess any power to protect you from God.
